A multi-agency investigation in neighboring Cherokee County, Alabama, led to the arrest of two people on narcotics charges.

According to Centre Police Chief Kirk Blankenship, the Centre Police Dept, Leesburg Police Department and Cherokee County Sheriff's Office conducted what is referred to as a "knock and talk" at a residence in the Bay Springs Road community, near the Career & Tech School,

resulting in two individuals being charged. 

Kristen Higgins, age 32 was charged with the Unlawful Distribution of Controlled Substance while 30 year old Tyree Antonio Gibbs, was charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 1st Degree, with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and the Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia in addition to Unlawful Distribution of Controlled Substance.

After receiving several complaints from area citizens regarding possible drug activity, those agencies involved launched an investigation, which spanned a period of some three months

According to Chief Blankenship, during the search of the residence, the officers discovered quantity of Marijuana and Spice; he added that the narcotics were packaged separately and readily available for distribution.
