A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle as he attempted to cross Shorter Avenue on Sunday evening. 

Rome Police Captain Paul Greene said the man was critically injured. We are working to get more information as it becomes available. 

On Saturday night, a 54-year-old Cedartown man died when he was struck by a vehicle after trying to cross East Second Avenue. 

 The man has been identified as 55-year-old Robert Eugene Ely of Rome by Deputy Floyd County Coroner Gene Proctor. He was pronounced dead at 7:41 p.m.
