Cherokee County authorities are currently investigating a triple homicide, which occurred just after midnight.

Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver says three people are dead, and one is being treated for wounds at the hospital.

That incident took place around 12:30 Alabama Time this (Monday) morning at a location on County Road 664, located in the Round Mountain community.  According to information on the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office website, Donnie Lee Abernathy, age 38 of Centre has been booked in at the Cherokee County Detention Center, on charges of Capital Murder during Kidnapping, Kidnapping 1st Degree, Criminal Mischief 1st Degree and Attempting to Elude Police.

He is currently being held without bond.

An investigation is being conducted by the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office & the Cherokee County Major Crimes Unit.
