A Floyd County woman has now been indicted on an aggravated assault charge.

 

According to previous Rome police and Floyd County Jail reports, 30-year-old Stephanie Ann Baldwin, of a Branch Road address, was in a store at Mount Berry Square Mall with a man, back on Friday, November 6th.

 

The manager of the store told police he saw Baldwin with several items, but she then gave a couple of them to the man to be put back. However, the manager observed on surveillance Baldwin put two items in her purse before walking out of the store.

 

Mall security was called and approached Baldwin as she was going into another store. The officer asked her to return the items, but Baldwin reportedly kicked off her shoes, dropped her purse and ran out of the mall to her car.

 

The security officer ran after her, but was knocked to the ground when Baldwin backed her vehicle into his knee. The officer was able to get the tag number and a lookout was issued.

 

The reports state Baldwin was stopped in Polk County and arrested for driving on a suspended license and giving a false name to police, then she was taken to the Polk County Jail.

 

Baldwin was transported to the Floyd County Jail where she was booked on an aggravated assault charge.
