A Rome man was jailed Sunday without bond after he allegedly choked a woman, then fired off a round from a gun.

According to Floyd County Jail reports: 70 year old Joe Lewis Leath was arrested just after 5:30 on Saturday afternoon at his home after he reportedly pushed and attempted to choke a woman; he then pointed a gun at the victim and fired the gun inside the home.

Leath was charged with felony aggravated assault under the Family Violence Act and with

misdemeanor counts of simple battery and reckless conduct.
