A Cave Spring man was restrained and taken to Floyd Medical Center Monday night after he crashed his car into a house on Alabama Highway and became “extremely violent,” an officer said.

According to Georgia State Patrol Tfc. Jeremy Battle: Adam Elrod, of 29 Rome Road in Cave Spring, was traveling east on the Alabama Highway in a Nissan Altima when he drove off of the road across the street from the Marathon gas station. The Altima went through the yard of a house, hit a flower bed and then struck the front porch.

Elrod’s car came to a stop wedged between two bushes. When police tried to get him out of the car to check him for injuries, he became extremely violent and reinforcement officers were called to the scene.

Elrod had to be physically restrained and was taken to Floyd Medical Center where he was still being treated in the emergency room late Monday night. Battle said late Monday he was waiting for medical information before determining charges. No one appeared to be home at the house the car struck.
