The Cartersville Police Department blocked off the area of Felton Road and Tennessee Street to locate a suspect, who attempted robbery at the Rite Aid at 954 Joe Frank Harris Parkway.

The suspect, 38-year-old Jaimey Shane Swafford of Canton was apprehended at the scene.

WBHF spoke to Cartersville Chief of Police Frank McCann about the incident.

A bag that belonged to the suspected was checked for potentially hazardous material, but consisted, instead, of pills that the suspect took.

According to Bartow County Jail records, Swafford is charged with armed robbery, two counts of terroristic threats and acts, four counts of aggravated assault, possession of a hoax device and obstruction of officers.
