Fort Oglethorpe police are asking for the public’s help in identifying two suspects involved in a crafty shoplifting scheme, in which they smuggled a chainsaw out of Walmart in a baby carrier.

According to detectives, the incident occurred Saturday, Jan. 9, about 5 a.m. at the Walmart on Battlefield Parkway.

The couple allegedly went into the store’s garden center, removed a chainsaw from its box, and then hid it in a baby carrier.

The couple was able to leave the store by passing the chainsaw off as child covered by a baby blanket, report show.

The couple’s heist was caught on the store’s video surveillance cameras, so police were able to pull clear photographs of both offenders.
