GFB Foundation for Agriculture Scholarship for Agriculture 2016

 

The purpose of the Georgia Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture Scholarship for Agriculture is to assist outstanding students who plan to pursue a career focusing on agriculture and who exhibit leadership skills for active involvement in the agriculture sector.

Scholarship Amount

 

The Foundation will award five scholarships of $3,000 each and seven scholarships of $1,500 each.

 

Scholarship checks will be sent to the college/university as confirmed by the recipient and placed in their college account.

Applicant Qualifications

 

To be eligible, applicant must

1. Be a Georgia resident.

2. Be majoring in agriculture and environmental sciences, family and consumer sciences or a related agriculture field.

3. Finish high school within the year student is applying for the scholarship.

4. Be engaged in leadership activities in high school.

5. Must be planning to enroll in a unit of The University System of Georgia or Berry College during the 2016-2017 academic year.

6. Have a minimum 3.0 GPA

 

Selection Process: A Scholarship Selection Committee will make selection of the final applicants. At the discretion of the selection committee, up to three additional scholarships of $1,500 may be awarded based on the above criteria plus financial need.

 

Application Guidelines

 

All applications must be typed. Applications may be obtained from the county Farm Bureau office or at the GFB Foundation for Agriculture website, www.gfbfoundation.org.

The application must be approved and signed by the county Farm Bureau president where the application is being accepted before being submitted. (This may be in the county where the student resides OR the county where the student attends high school.)

Please include the following.

 Copy of your application

 Copy of transcript

 Three letters of reference from teachers

 

The scholarship recipients will be required to submit a digital file or photo quality copy of their formal senior photo up on notification of being a scholarship recipient.

Application Deadline

The deadline for submitting applications is February 5, 2016.

Notification

Notification of scholarship winners will be made by April 1, 2016. The scholarship checks will be distributed in the summer of 2016 upon confirmation by the student of their college/university and major area of study as listed in the criteria. Scholarship checks will be sent to the college/university as confirmed by the recipient and placed in their college account.
