According to the most recent Population Update study, published by the Northwest Georgia Regional Commission Chattooga County has dropped in population since the year 2000; the latest figures represent the year 2014 when the county's population was listed at 24,939.
That's a loss of just over 2% from 14 years ago.
Meanwhile, Walker County's population was listed in the new report at 68,218 – up 11.7%.
Both Catoosa and Whitfield County had growth rates of around 23%, over that same period of time.
