A routine traffic stop on New Rosedale Road led to Floyd County Police arresting a wanted fugitive from North Carolina. Reports said that officers stopped Joseph Walden Peacock, 44 of Winston-Salem, for a tag violation and discovered an open container. Officers also found that he was driving without a license.

A check revealed that Peacock was wanted on undisclosed felony warrants out of North Carolina.

Peacock was arrested as a fugitive from justice and also charged with three misdemeanors: Violation of the open container law, obtaining a license plate for the purpose concealing the identification of a motor vehicle and driving without a license.
