The Home of Murder suspect Terry Lee McKinney burned to the ground Friday night.

The 63 year old Cedar Bluff resident stands accused of killing – and dismembering – Leroy Pete Foster in March of 2015. 

Afterwards, he reportedly scattered the victim’s body parts along a stretch of County Road 82.  Investigators later searched the home of McKinney, where evidence was obtained that lead to him being arrested and charged with murder.

The blaze that destroyed McKinney’s home on Rocky Ford Point Road was reported around 11:30 Friday night; by the time firefighters arrived the home was fully engulfed in flames.

The murder case remains under investigation by the Cherokee County Major Crimes Unit.

McKinney currently remains behind bars on a one million dollar bond.

According to the Cherokee County Circuits Clerks Office McKinney is scheduled to appear in court on March 1st at 9:00am for a bond reduction hearing.

What, if any, effect this most recent incident will have on that hearing remains to be seen.
