An unidentified woman allegedly stole $100 from a briefly unattended self-checkout machine at the East Rome Wal-Mart.

A woman was using one of the self-checkout machines Wednesday and requested $100 cash back from her debit card. She told police she forgot about the money and walked away to talk to someone.

She looked back at the machine when she remembered the money and saw a woman using the machine who appeared to be counting money.

The victim confronted the woman about the $100, to which the woman responded it was hers and walked out of the store.

The surveillance video shows a woman wearing a red hoodie and blue hat taking money from the machine and putting it into her purse before checking out.
