According to jail reports, a Chattooga County man claimed that the syringe and drugs found on him at the Ashland Park Apartments in Rome, actually belonged to someone else, and he was actually an informant for another law enforcement agency.

44 year old Jerry Lynn Hamby of Summerville was arrested at around 3:30 Friday morning, in apartment 324 of the complex, after someone reported a disturbance in the room.

After searching the apartment – officers found Hamby to be in possession of a syringe with suspected methamphetamine in it; they also found a total of eight blank checks belonging to someone else.  He claimed he was just holding them for “a friend.”

Hamby was charged with felony possession of methamphetamine; additional charges may be forthcoming.
