According to information from Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader, investigators with the sheriff’s office and the Summerville Police Department have been working with Walker County authorities regarding an armed robbery taking place there on Saturday afternoon.

Those agencies are trying to determine if the robbery taking place in the southern portion of Walker County may be related to three incidents occurring recently in Chattooga County.

Armed robberies have taken place at the Melanie Inn convenience store on Hawkins Drive, at the Wildlife Lake Food Mart located on Highway 27 on the outskirts of Summerville, and at TJ’s Package Store in Lyerly with one store employee being shot and seriously wounded during the Hawkins Drive hold up and another being beaten in the Wildlife Lake Food Mart robbery.

The Melanie Inn robbery took place January 15th; the Wild Lake robbery January 18th, and the TJ’s Liquor Store robbery on the 26th.

No arrests have been made in connection with any of those armed robberies.

Neighboring Floyd County has also seen a rash of burglaries occurring over the past couple of weeks.  At least one person has been arrested there – 34 year old Phillip Wayne Holland of Rome has been arrested in connection with the hold up at Rick’s High Tech Fuel.

We’ll have more information as it becomes available.
