The Georgia State Patrol accident report on a three-vehicle accident taking place February 12th in Chattooga County has now been released.
According to that report, the accident took place on Highway 27 north of Wilson Road just after 5:00pm, and involved a 1999 Ford Escort, being driven by 30 year old Brenna Anne Turner from a Trion address; there were also two passengers in that vehicle, identified as Ariel Cash and Angelina Brown.
The second vehicle was a 2008 Honda Accord EX-l, being driven by Kelsey Brianne Hart of Summerville – with one passenger, listed as Carley Brooke Hart.
Meanwhile, the third vehicle was a 2003 Oldsmobile Alero GL being driven by Jessica Diane Cothran, age 23 from Weaver, Alabama.
The accident report indicates that the Ford Escort was traveling south on 27 in the left lane and the Accord was traveling south directly ahead of the Escort – while the Oldsmobile was directly in front of that vehicle.
Cothran told troopers that she witnessed traffic ahead of her come to an abrupt halt and as a result, put on her brakes to begin slowing down with Hart saying the same thing; at that point, Turner, traveling behind the other vehicles was apparently following too closely and as a result struck the Accord – essentially causing a chain reaction – with the Accord being pushed forward into the rear of the Oldsmobile.
Troopers issued a citation to Turner for Following too Closely.
Those listed as being hurt in that mishap included Brenna Ann Turner and Kelsey Brianne Hart; neither injury was considered to be life-threatening.
