A Chattooga County man is facing a variety of charges, after allegedly damaging property at Red Bud Elementary School in Gordon County earlier this month.
Georgia State Troopers responded to the school after a Toyota Camry traveling westbound crossed the centerline, ran off the road, hit a ditch, traveled more than 230 feet and struck a curb, sending the vehicle out of control.
The Toyota then hit a metal breezeway which joins a school building to the gym – then went another 35 – 40 feet before finally coming to a stop.
The driver, identified as 31 year old Brandon Lee Love of Summerville, told authorities that he "blacked out" before going off the roadway.
The incident report listed Love's condition at the time of the accident as (quote) "under the influence of medication, drugs or alcohol." (end-quote)
According to the report two minors inside the vehicle were taken to an area hospital where they were treated and released.
Love was arrested, and charged with DUI, two counts of Endangering a Child Under the Age of 14, Failure to Maintain Lane, and a Safety Restraint Violation for a Child 8 Years of Age or Older.
