Today is Election Day in Chattooga County.  Registered voters across the county can vote in their local precincts in the Presidential Preference Primary.  The election today is for voters to vote in either the Republican or Democratic Presidential Primary.  When you go to the polls you must choose either party's ballot and then vote for the candidate of your choice for President.  There are no local or statewide candidates on today's ballot.  The Georgia Primaries to vote for local candidates such as county commissioner, tax commissioner and sheriff will be held on May 24th.

Polls will be open today from 7 AM until 7 PM.  Chattooga County Election Superintendent Jon Payne is reminding people that no campaigning can take place within 150 feet of the outer edge of any building that is used as a polling place. Also, Georgia law says that no person can use a cell phone while they are voting, after they have been issued a ballot.
