Yesterday the Town of Trion held the first, of what they say will be several, “Housing Fairs.”  The event kicked off at 11 AM with a tour of the Habitat for Humanity home that is located on Chestnut Street.  Attendees of the fair were able to see the new home and meet the new owners, plus they were able to get information on home availability, loan programs, housing resources and energy efficiency.

Trion Mayor Larry Stansell said that the Trion Housing Committee is planning several more of the housing fairs throughout the year.  The event was sponsored by The Georgia Department of Community Affairs, Georgia Power, The Georgia Municipal Association, The University of Georgia and the Town of Trion.

Coming up this Thursday there will be a groundbreaking ceremony held as the Town of Trion begins the process of building three new homes in Trion, courtesy of a Community Development Block Grant from the Georgia Department of Community Affairs.  The $300,000 grant will allow for the removal of dilapidated homes and new homes to be built in their place.
