The body of the man missing since witnesses said they saw him jump from the bridge near Grizzard Park in Floyd County, has now been recovered. An off duty firefighter, fishing on the Etowah River discovered the body of 22-year-old Rickey Dylan Sisson Tuesday around two miles from the bridge.

Sisson was pronounced dead by Deputy Floyd County Coroner Gene Proctor, at 1:45pm. He had apparently jumped from the bypass bridge into the water the evening of February 23rd during heavy rains.

The high water levels complicated the search.

His body has been sent to the GBI Crime Lab to obtain a confirmation of the cause of death – which is believed to be drowning.
