According to Chattooga County Public Works Director Joe Reed the bridge located just past the Chattooga River tributary on Welcome Hill Road is being replaced, and that project will likely take just over a month to complete.

Reed stresses that this is a state mandated project and the new structure is being installed for the long-term safety of those traveling over that span.

While construction is taking place on the new bridge, motorists can take Cummins Road on the East side, and Cummins or Tate Road on the West side.

All alternate routes have been clearly posted so there will be no confusion regarding travel while construction is taking place.

Reed said he greatly appreciates the patience of the public while the work is being done.
