For its 2016 edition, Finster Fest makes an overdue “homecoming,” returning to Paradise Garden.
Finster Fest will be held on Saturday May 28th from 10-6 and Sunday the 29th, 11-5 in Paradise Garden. Howard Finster created more than 40,000 numbered works of folk art in his lifetime, but his sprawling and overflowing art environment, a tribute to the creativity of mankind, was inarguably his greatest achievement. It drew visitors from around the world to the humble community of Pennville, just outside the Chattooga County seat of Summerville
Finster hosted many early Finster Fests here, and encouraged emerging folk artists to put their creations before the public. Now the Paradise Garden Foundation, the nonprofit that has been steadily restoring Finster’s spirit-moving roadside attraction since 2012, brings art, music and food back to this magical setting.
You’ll find work by self-taught artists that Finster directly inspired and by artists who never met the self-described “Man of Visions” but who are nonetheless inspired by his remarkable legacy.
Join us for a folk art homecoming in Howard Finster’s lovingly tended and once-again-flourishing garden!
This year you can attend Finster Fest at Paradise Garden for just $5 per adult. Children under 12 are free.
