Michelle Darlene Shirley of Lafayette has turned herself in to law enforcement officials.

Shirley has been charged with vehicular homicide, in connection with the collision between her van and a motorcycle which claimed the life of the motorcyclist around two weeks ago.

Ft. Oglethorpe Police had been searching for her since that time, when she allegedly left the scene of the wreck at the intersection of Lafayette Road and Forrest Road.

Witnesses said Shirley was traveling approximately sixty miles an hour when she ran a red light and struck 50 year old Robert May, of Ringgold, causing injuries which proved fatal

In addition to vehicular homicide, Shirley was charged with reckless driving.

She is currently being held on bond of $11,000.
