Summerville is set to host a Twins Day on Saturday, September 3 at the Summerville Depot. This gathering of multiples may leave you seeing double or even triple! Twins and multiples – identical, fraternal, young and old, twins, triplets, quads — and even those who are not twins, but look or dress like twins are encouraged to come celebrate all things twins! It’s a day of entertainment from 10am to 3pm.
Twins and their families are encouraged to participate in a “Twins Story Telling Session” to share memorable stories on the following topics: Funny Twins Stories, Enduring Twin Hardships, We Are Not Your Average Twins- Amazing Twins Stories, Twin Teen Years, Medical Miracles, We Are Twins – But We Are Different. Twin stories and sharing will begin at 10:30 a.m. and conclude at 12:00 noon. Prizes will be awarded for the top 3 stories.
In addition to “Twins Story Telling”, cash prizes and trophies will be awarded in the following categories: Youngest Twins – $25 Each Twin First Place, Oldest Twins – $25 Each Twin First Place, Most Alike Twins – $25 Each Twin First Place, Best Un-Related “Twins” – $25 Each “Twin” First Place. This contest allows those who are not twins to participate by dressing alike or finding a “look alike”. Contest registration begins at 11:30 a.m., with judging at 12:30 p.m.
A group photo of all twins related and not will be taken at 1:00 p.m. Twins are encouraged to greet the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum Passenger Train as it makes its arrival at the depot around 1:00p.m. Twins participating in the Twins Day will also be given special concert seating at The Town of Trion’s Labor Day Celebration.
Butch Reeves will be providing musical entertainment between the hours of 12:30 – 2:15 p.m. Vendors for this event include Wayne Howell and Crew, Sugarville Sweets Bakery, “Apple Jack” & Valerie Kellett with apples and fried pies, Angie’s Sentsational Wax & More, Re-Elect Winters Commissioner Campaign , and others.
