A Rome murder suspect was taken into custody last week, charged with shooting 38 year-old Scotty Dale Graham in the chest on East 19th Street in Rome. Graham died from the gunshot and his body has been sent to the GBI Crime Lab for an autopsy.
Michael David Yates, age 22 of Calhoun, has been charged with the murder. He was captured in Bartow County after law enforcement received a tip that he would be in a particular vehicle. Yates was taken into custody without incident.
Now, in addition to murder charges, Floyd County officials say that Yates is also being charged with burglary in connection with a theft that took place on January 11th at a Everett Spring Road address. Investigators believe that Yates stole an I-pad and a .40 caliber handgun in that incident.
Yates is being held in the Floyd County Jail.
