The annual ‘Your State Parks Day’ is Saturday, September 30th.  Interested individuals can volunteer their time to participate in special projects to address various preservation and beautification efforts of Georgia State Parks and Historic Sites. In addition to all of the other state parks and historic sites, there will be opportunities to volunteer both at Sloppy Floyd State Park in Summerville and Cloudland Canyon in Rising Fawn. Sloppy Floyd State Park

9AM-12PM.

Friends of James H. “Sloppy” Floyd volunteer project may include lake shore cleanups, beautification projects, and trail maintenance. Volunteers should meet at the park’s visitor center. Bring water, gloves and wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty.

Cloudland Canyon: Preservation, Enhancements and Beatifications
10 AM to 1 PM; 12 PM to 4 PM
Cloudland Canyon State Park – Rising Fawn, GA
Friends of Cloudland Canyon have the entire day planned with opportunities for the entire family. With typically over 100 volunteers participating, there is much opportunity for making new friends, fellowship and making a huge impact at the park. Activities will include

· Spread Mulch in Yurt Village
· Clean and mulch Interpretative Center Grounds
· Weed and Mulch the Visitors’ Center Grounds
· Entrance Gate Park Sign Weeding and Mulch
· Pressure Wash Concrete Picnic Tables
· Service Recycling Collection Cans
· A Bat and Bird House building project
· Making wooden lawn games
· Staining rockers and benches
· Decorating 10 rest stations
· Cleaning signs
· Cleaning culverts
· Back Country Trail Bridge Surface Improvement

Once projects are complete, you can celebrate with family-friendly activities from 12 noon to 4 PM with hayrides, fishing and disc golf.
