A LaFayette man was in jail without bail Sunday after leading police on a foot chase from the Days Inn to Reservoir Street, reports stated.

According to Rome police reports:

Timothy Maurice Groomes, 24, of 1327 Huffman Road in LaFayette, is charged with obstruction or hindering law enforcement officers.

He is also being held on a warrant from the Walker County Sheriff’s Office. LaFayette police forwarded the information Saturday night to the Rome police, who went to the Days Inn motel on Turner McCall Boulevard to look for Groomes.

When police spotted him in a parking lot, Groomes took off running toward Turner McCall Boulevard. He was found trying to hide in a wooded area in the 100 block of Reservoir Street and taken into custody without further incident.
