A county deputy was dispatched Murphy Gas Station in front of Walmart about a green Jeep Cherokee driving off without paying for 48 dollars’ worth of gas.

The station’s manager, Ashley Southerland, said that this was not the offender’s first time doing this, and showed the deputy surveillance camera footage from September 17th of this year to back her statement up.

The video showed a male with a full, dark beard and a “unique” tattoo on his right shoulder exit a green Jeep Cherokee with a Georgia license plate. According to the report, he was wearing a grey ‘Rack’ ball cap and sleeveless shirt.

He walked up to the attendant and said, “I don’t no how much it will hold- can you just turn the pump on for me?” When the attendant did so, the man pumped $45.25 and fled the sceene.

A second surveillance camera video shown by Ms. Southerland shows the man doing the exact same song and dance in his Cherokee on September 27th for $46 and October 18th for $48.

The Cherokee’s license plate is registered to a Lafayette woman who lives on Reading Circle, who a station employee said is he mother of the offender’s child. The same employee identified the offender as Chris Pence.

The deputy wrote in his report that a quick Facebook search of Pence immediately idintified him as the offender, including showing his “unique” tattoo. A warrant has been taken out for Pence’s arrest.
