On Saturday, October 27th, the Pride of Trion Marching Band attended the 45th annual Peach State Marching Competition and Festival at Barron Stadium in Rome, Georgia. Fifteen other bands attended the festival. The Pride of Trion had a wonderful time meeting new people and watching new shows.

The Pride of Trion performed at 2:40, and they competed with six other bands in their class. The classes themselves, ranging from 1A to open class based on size, included a wide variety of bands and show themes. For example, one band had a “Wild West” theme, while another had “Steampunk.” Exhibition bands (that is, bands that are there just to perform for the audience) at Peach State included Rome High, Rome Middle, and Jacksonville State University.

The band achieved all superiors, or ones. The color guard and band achieved first in class. Though they did not get trophies, the percussion achieved third in class, while the drum major achieved second. During this season, the Pride of Trion band has earned first place for overall band twice, along with receiving a Spirit Pop award, which is an award based on the amount of shoutouts the band made.

Krista Ozment, a sophomore that plays marimba, “It was a really fun last competition. It was sad, though, hearing the shoutouts to all of the seniors and knowing it will be my last time competing alongside the seniors.”

Overall, the Pride of Trion enjoyed their time attending the Peach State Marching Competition and Festival. Memories were made, memories which will last the band members a lifetime, especially the departing seniors.
