The Trion High School Cheerleaders traveled to Chattanooga, Tennessee to visit the Ronald McDonald House. The Ronald McDonald Foundation is for families with sick children currently in hospital care. Families who cannot afford to stay in hotels can spend this time at the house. This Ronald McDonald house can currently house 28 families.

A few weeks ago, each grade at Trion High School was assigned items to donate in a cancer toy drive. The students donated items such as baby dolls, books, bubbles, toiletries, and other items to benefit the children staying there. The cheerleaders visited the Ronald McDonald House to donate these items and were given a tour of the house by the Operations Manager and got to hear stories about children whose families’ lives were completely changed by the opportunities brought to them through this organization.

The cheerleaders stated that the McDonald’s here in Summerville donates 25% of the profits towards the house. Other organizations that make charitable donations are La-Z-Boy, Coca Cola, Tempur-Pedic, and Barnes and Noble. Every aspect of the Ronald McDonald House, including furniture, food, and is based entirely on donations.

Senior Breanna Tucker commented, “It felt like a therapy without going to therapy. I had no idea it would be as amazing as it was.”
