Both the Trion Bulldogs and Chattooga Indians secured advancement in the playoffs after single-point wins last night.

Chattooga High School hosted the Washington Bulldogs from Atlanta. Washington’s first quarter touchdown gave the team an early lead of 6 points, but Indian running back Lashaun Lester (#6) evened the scoreboard out in the following quarter. The 1-point conversion that followed- executed by Luis Medina (#83)- gave CHS their narrow advantage that won them the game.

The second half featured plenty of action; both teams exchanged possession several times, but Chattooga’s jealous guarding of that single point lasted until the final buzzer.

In similar fashion, Trion’s Bulldogs trumped the Wilcox County Patriots, their guests at Sam R. McCain stadium. A first quarter of back-and-forth saw neither team score. In the second quarter, Bulldog Braden Johnson (#22) gave Trion the first 7 points of the night, but the Patriots took 12 points of their own before halftime.

7 points went to both teams in the third quarter, putting the scoreboard at 19-13. In the last quarter, just when it was starting to look like the season was over for the Bulldogs, they secured a last-minute Hail Mary touchdown, tying things up at 19. Trion’s ensuing 1-pt. conversion sent the Patriots packing.
