A word of warning to shoppers planning on spending Black Friday in Chattanooga: repairs to some lanes of northbound I-75 near Hamilton Place Mall are slated to begin this evening, promising some degree of traffic congestion in the city.

According to the Tennessee Department of Transportation, multiple lanes between Bonny Oaks Dr. (blue star in map below) and Volkswagen Dr. (green star) will close Friday afternoon when workers begin replacing damaged concrete.

Crews will begin near mile marker 8.2 with the left and middle lanes, leaving open two lanes on the right. They will work continuously through the weekend to have all lanes open before Monday.

Tennessee Highway Patrol will assist with traffic control, and a message board truck will be stationed nearby. Motorists are reminded to drive slowly and exercise caution- most importantly to prevent injury, but also to avoid increased fines for traffic violations near a work zone.
