According to reports from the county sheriff’s department, Trion man Kenneth Koonce reported that his home had been burglarized this past Sunday.

A sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to Koonce’s Reed St. address in Trion, where Koonce stated that he discovered that his house had been raided after he returned home from a day trip to Chattanooga.

Koonce listed the following items missing:

• a thirty-six inch Sanyo-Roku TV,
• a floor jack,
• a Craftsman skill saw,
• a Black and Decker sander,
• a bottle of Curve cologne,
• three antique, open-face fishing reels,
• a container of clothes-washing powder,
• and a new bottle of mouth wash.

Koonce said that when he left for Chattanooga around 1 PM, his girlfriend was at the address and said she planned to do some cleaning. However, at some point between 6 and 7 PM that evening while he was driving home, she called him to confess infidelity and break up with him. Shortly thereafter, a man known to Koonce called him and allegedly threatened to “whoop his ass”, adding that “he needed to come up to the hotel where he could whoop his ass”.

Those conversations, coupled with the fact that only he and she had keys to the house, gave Koonce reason to list both of those individuals as suspects.

“Mr. Koonce also advised me that two people he knew had called him and told him that (the male suspect) was trying to sell a TV, (and) one of the them also told him that (the male suspect) had admitted to stealing the TV from Mr. Koonce.”

An investigator with the sheriff’s department is currently working the case.
