The Trion Lions Club is passing a milestone this year – the organization will celebrate 80 years of existence and club members are seeking any information anyone may have about the local Lion Club’s history.
The Trion Lions Club was founded in 1939 and local members say that they are looking for anyone that has information, pictures or any other history on the organization. Club member Ann Brown told WZQZ News that the group is planning an 80th Anniversary celebration in March and is looking for the information to include in the celebration.
There are 47,900 Lions Clubs in operation in over 200 countries world-wide with over 1.7 million members. The clubs are known for their work with people who suffer from vision loss. Some famous historical figures are known for their Lions Club membership including Helen Keller and former President Jimmy Carter.
