The Chattooga County School system is calling on the community to sign up for a new app that will help serve the needs of students. the app is called Purposity and it is being used by many schools around the Northwest Georgia Area and across the United States. According to their website, the name of the app is a combination of the words ‘purpose’ and ‘generosity’ and it is designed to connect people with specific needs to those who can help.

Chattooga Schools has chosen to become a part of the Purposity App so that the needs of students can be met through members of the community who use the app. Initially, The system needs 500 users to sign up before the system can use the app. Signing up for the app does NOT require the user to buy anything. Users do not enter credit card or bank information. In order to sign up a user must simply download the app from the Google Play Store or the Apple Store, enter an email address, create a password, and choose Chattooga County.

Here is how the app works according to the Purposity Website: “School systems and non-profits in local communities let us know needs in your area. We spread the word to individuals near them who are willing to help. They click a link, see the need, and make a difference for someone near them. It may be the family next door who lost their home in a fire or the child down the street you didn’t know needed school supplies.” https://www.purposity.com/about

In order to get this program up and running for the students who need it, Chattooga Schools must have 500 members before it can launch. Once they get to 500 members then school counselors can post needs of students and members can choose to donate. The purchase will go directly to the school and be distributed to students by the principals and school counselors. Chattooga Schools is encouraging the community to help them help students by joining Purposity today!
