A start-up textile mill in Louisiana is aiming to be competitive in the US-made denim market.  With the closure of multiple denim mills over the past two decades, Mount Vernon Mills in Trion is one of the few United States denim manufacturers left.   Vidalia Denim Mills is located in Vidalia, Louisianna is looking to change that and the CEO of the company says that they want to enter the “premium denim market.” Dan Feibus, CEO of Vidalia Mills told Sourcing Journal that they will focus on performance denim and shuttle-loom selvage denim on par with what is produced by premium denim mills around the world. The target market is better brands sold through premium retailers.

The mill is gearing up start the first full-scale yarn spinning production in August or September, and move ahead to full weaving of denim fabric by the first quarter of next year, when they hope to produce 8-9 million yards per year.
