A fire early last Saturday destroyed a cabin on Valley View Lane at Cloudland.  Information released from the sheriff’s department sheds some light on the possible cause of that fire.

According to a report released on Thursday, a sheriff’s deputy responded to the fire shortly after 5 AM this past Saturday.  When the deputy arrived on the scene around 5:39 AM, he saw the cabin, on the east side of the property, fully engulfed in flames.

Reports indicate that Jeremy Herrington and his girlfriend Dana Baker were staying in the cabin at the time.  The cabin belongs to Mr. Herrington’s parents.  According to Herrington, the cabin was undergoing some renovations at the time of the fire and he believes that the cause of the fire may have been electrical.

The property was insured according to the property owner, Danny Eldridge.

Cloudland, Menlo, Teloga and Hays State Prison Fire Departments responded to the fire.  The cabin was a total loss.
