Chattooga County Public Works Director Joe Reed told WZQZ News on Thursday that Chattooga County Transit will resume operations next week.

Since early March, the transit buses have only been transporting dialysis patients.  Monday will Memorial Day, so the transit service will start operations back up on Tuesday of next week.  But Reed says that the transit buses will only be carrying three passengers at a time – to abide by social distancing protocol.  Also, the buses will have hand sanitizer available for the riders.

Reed says that it will be necessary to call a day ahead to schedule a transit bus ride.  Starting today, passengers can call for transit pickup for next Tuesday.  Remember, no when will be in the office on Monday due to the Memorial Day Holiday, so if you need a transit bus next Tuesday, you should call today and schedule.

Joe Reed said that the transit buses and drivers will be taking every precaution to make sure that riders are safe and the buses are sanitized.  The call-ahead system will continue on Chattooga County Transit Buses until further notice.
