An Oak Hill Drive, Trion woman says that a 9mm Smith & Wesson handgun was stolen from her vehicle last week.

Jennifer Gilleland took to social media to warn others about thieves who broke into her vehicle and stole the pistol.  The handgun theft is just one of many thefts that have been reported in the Trion area over the past couple of weeks.

Trion Police issued a statement later in the week saying that anyone with any information about the break-ins is urged to contact the Trion Police Department or the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Department.

A report from the sheriff’s department was released on Friday of last week about the theft of Ms. Gilleland’s handgun. According to the report, the handgun and an extra magazine was taken from Ms. Gilleland’s 2014 Nissan Altima while it was parked in the driveway of her residence.

If you have any information about this theft, or you think you might have seen the handgun, you are asked to call the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Department and speak with an investigator; or contact the Trion Police Department.
