County Commissioner Jason Winters says that county offices have continued to work throughout the COVID-19 Pandemic, but some offices were operating with a variety of social-distancing restrictions.

Commissioner Winters has issued a Daily COVID-19 Report each day since late March detailing the county’s operations during the pandemic.  As the county begins to slowly open back up, residents can expect some changes.  The commissioner is asking anyone entering a county office to wear a mask.  If you don’t have your own mask, one will be provided for you.  Also, county offices are rearranging to allow for distance between county workers and the public.

Temperatures may be taken in some offices, including the Chattooga County Courthouse, before a person is allowed inside. The commissioner says that the county is still working through all the details as they go forward.

Meanwhile, The Town of Lyerly is the only municipal office open in the county, and they are only allowing one person in the lobby at a time.  Summerville, Trion and Menlo have not made formal announcements as to when their offices will reopen.
