On Monday of this week, shortly after 1 AM, a Chattooga County Sheriff’s Deputy was dispatched to a residence on Sloppy Floyd Lake Road in reference to damage to property and
theft.
The deputy stated, “Upon arrival, I met with the complainants Joseph Hunter and James Hunter. Joseph Hunter advised me that he heard something outside and came out of the residence at 970 Sloppy Floyd Lake Road and observed several subjects in front of 980 Sloppy Floyd Lake Road. He stated that they got into a white or light gray passenger car and fled towards Highway 27. Joseph Hunter and James Hunter checked the area and discovered that the subjects had spray painted the word “Racist” in black paint in front of 980 Sloppy Floyd Lake Road and had also taken a lawn mower sign off the fence and a Confederate flag that was next to the driveway.
James Hunter was not able to make contact with the neighbor to advise them of the theft.
The deputy said that he checked the area for the described vehicle but did not locate it.
