Trion Police Chief David Gilleland says that elderly citizens have been receiving telephone calls from persons claiming to be with the Social Security Administration.
The callers then tell the elderly victims that they are going to issue warrants for their arrests and then asks them for their social security number. Chief Gilleland reminds residents that Social Security will never call and tell you that they are “issuing warrants” for anyone’s arrest and they will not need to ask you for your social security number.
If you have elderly family members or neighbors, please talk with them and warn them about this scam.
