Just a few weeks until school starts back for Chattooga County and Trion City School students – or at least it might.

That’s the word from local school officials as they continue to monitor the COVID-19 pandemic.  For now, Chattooga County students are set to return to the classroom on July 30, 2020.  Trion City students would start the following week on August 6th.   But the superintendents and school boards for each of the county’s two school systems say that those plans could be altered depending on developing situations and regulations released by the Governor and the State School Superintendent.

Trion City School Superintendent Phil Williams says that he is waiting before making a final commitment on when school starts because “things are constantly changing.”

The Chattooga County Board of Education is also making plans to start at the end of this month, but given current regulations it is not certain how that return for students would actually be accomplished.

Over the next week or two, expect to hear more from both local school system as to when student’s will start back to school, and exactly what kind of schedules those students will have once school does commence.
