Dr. John Cowan has racked up a host of political endorsements in his race to defeat top vote-receiver Marjorie Greene as the two Republicans battle it out in a hotly contested runoff to see which one will likely win the 14th District Congressional seat that is being vacated by Republican Tom Graves.

Greene has lashed out at Dr. Cowan repeatedly in ads insinuating that he will not represent the values of Northwest Georgia voters.  But Greene’s message isn’t making any headway with establishment Republicans or local elected officials.  Dr. Cowan has garnered the endorsement of nearly every elected official in the state; including a list of Chattooga County office holders that include Commissioner Jason Winters, Sheriff Mark Schrader and Trion Mayor Larry Stansell – along with most of the Trion Town Council and Trion Police Chief David Gilleland.

Greene has come under scrutiny after videos surfaced of her seeming to endorse right-wing conspiracy theories and making statements some have claimed are racist in nature.

Greene maintains that her campaign is a grass-roots effort and that she will be the candidate that will lend the most support to President Trump in Congress.

Dr. Cowan and Ms. Greene will be facing off in the August 11th Primary Runoff and the winner will face a little-known and underfunded Democratic Candidate Kevin Van Ausdal .
