Two weeks of increases in COVID-19 cases in the ten-county Northwest Health District point to a concerning sign that our community is moving in the wrong direction to contain the virus, according to Director Dr. Gary Voccio. District-wide, confirmed cases have increased 21% in the past two weeks.
Statewide, the seven-day average number of cases has more than doubled in the past two weeks. Dr. Voccio advises that the public should:
• continue to practice safe physical distancing
• Wear a face mask in public spaces
• People who are older and people who have underlying health conditions should continue to stay at home and limit contact with others as much as possible.
• If you have any symptoms of COVID-19, stay home and away from others and get tested as soon as possible.
As of Sunday afternoon, Chattooga County was reporting a total of 67 cases with four hospitalizations since the pandemic began back in March.
