A Summerville woman asked Summerville Police for help getting her COVID-19 stimulus check from her brother who lives in Franklin, Georgia.

The complainant called police this week about the situation and an officer responded to her residence on Highway 48.  The woman explained that on May 30th, her brother who lives in Franklin, Georgia, sent her a text with a picture of her $1200 federal stimulus check and said that the check had been delivered to his house.

The complainant explained to the officer that she used to live with her brother and had not forwarded her mail to Summerville yet.  She said that she has not been able to convince her brother to send the check.

The responding officer explained that the complainant’s brother hadn’t broken any laws and unless he fraudulently cashed the check there wasn’t anything law enforcement could do.

The officer did say he would contact law enforcement in Heard County, Georgia and see if they would go by and speak with the complainant’s brother about sending the check to the complainant.
