A thirty-four-year-old Trion woman was arrested at Wal-Mart on Wednesday after she was accused by loss prevention employees of “skip-scanning.”
According to a report from the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office, the offender came into the store with her daughter and selected several items and proceeded to the self-checkout lane. The offender is said to have scanned two items totaling a little over $10 and skipped scanning ten more items that would have totaled $180.84. The offender then went past all points of sales and attempted to exit the building without paying for all of the items. She was stopped by a Wal-Mart employee.
Crystal Nicole Brown, of a Penn Street, Trion address, was arrested and transported to the Chattooga County Jail on charges of shoplifting.
The entire incident was captured on video surveillance.
