Chattooga County’s unemployment rate improved from May to June, according to numbers released by the Georgia Department of Labor on Thursday.
Chattooga County was at a 12.2% unemployment rate in May of this year but that number fell to 10.5% – a 1.7% decrease.
Georgia Labor Commissioner Mark Butler says that we can expect to see that number to continue to decrease for July as hundreds of people go back to work and businesses and industries open back up.
Locally, there are several hiring events coming up in the next several days. Oakview Nursing & Rehabilitation, Mohawk and Roper Corporation are all planning job fairs next week.
According to the numbers released Thursday by the Georgia Department of Labor, Northwest Georgia’s unemployment rate decreased to 6.6 percent in June.
