Chattooga County School Superintendent Jared Hosmer released a statement on Friday confirming the school system’s return to classes for the first time since March 13th.

Hosmer says that school will start back up for the system on July 30th.  Teachers will be returning two days before the start date.  Hosmer says that the school system will do everything to keep children safe with the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic.

The return to class comes at a time when the confirmed number of COVID-19 cases has spiked in Chattooga County.  According to the latest numbers from the Georgia Department of Public Health, there are now 125 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the county.  That’s up from just over 80 cases earlier this week.

In the statement released yesterday, Hosmer says that “everyone is looking for some sense of normalcy” and asks that people be “flexible and show up with an abundance of patience and understanding.”
