Chattooga County Tax Commissioner Joy Hampton is reminding residents that the tag and tax office will be closed today.  The office is located in the Chattooga County Courthouse Annex which was closed on Friday after two county employees tested positive for COVID-19.

Tax Commissioner Hampton said, “My office will  remain closed through Monday while we all await test results. If you have an emergency situation or question, you can email chattooga41@gmail.com or text 706-331-0723”

Hampton said it is better to text or call so she can keep track of any issues.  The tax commissioner said any late-fees will be waved while her office is closed.  She also said that local law enforcement is aware of the tag office being closed – just in case you get stopped and your tag was due.

The tax commissioner said she visited her office over the weekend to handle emergency situations and to clean and sanitize.
